On the snow
Three snowmobile tours of three hours each through forest trails and open country, at the pace your party sets.
An aurora chase. The northern lights keep no schedule, so we watch for them every night of your stay. When they appear, we collect you and drive up into the hills. Some nights bring a thin green band; on others, the whole sky moves, and the midnight start is well worth it.
Snow tubing, conditions permitting.
On foot
A visit to the Storforsen rapids, one of the most powerful stretches of white water in Scandinavia. The outing takes three hours, with about 2 km on foot. In December the edges are frozen solid while the centre still roars, and the sound carries a long way through the cold air.
Winter walks, as long or as short as your party wishes.
A walk on the frozen Baltic Sea. In a proper winter the ice holds for kilometres, and you can stand far out over open water with nothing beneath you but ice.
A drive on the ice road, straight across the frozen sea.

Around the fire
A trip into the forest for your own Christmas tree on 22 or 23 December. You choose and cut the tree, and we carry it back for you.
A visit to a reindeer farm.
Later, an evening around an open fire, lit by torches.
Bengal flares at midnight on 31 December, set off by our staff.
Dining
We cook for you: breakfast each morning and one hot main meal later in the day, throughout your stay. Both are generous, and in practice no one has needed a third meal.
Christmas Eve dinner on 24 December and a New Year buffet on 31 December are included.
Drinks are not included; see below.

The days in between
Twelve days allow for an unhurried stay, so we leave some of them free. The days after Christmas and after New Year are rest days by design. Sleep late, sit by the fire, walk as far as you please, and let the cold air do its work.
Should you prefer to be out on one of those days, mention it to your guide the evening before. We will suggest what suits the weather and your party, and as our guests, you pay less than the standard price.
Comfort included
- Snowmobiles with heated handlebars and footrests
- Warm winter suits
- Helmets, goggles, gloves and balaclavas
- Fuel
- A local guide on every tour
- Safety training before you ride

Guests and requirements
- Drivers must be 18 or older and hold a valid category A or B driving licence.
- A Swedish snowmobile licence is not required. Riding with our guide covers it.
- Every driver completes a short skills check during the safety training.
- Passengers ride from the age of 6. Guests under 18 ride as passengers with an adult.
- Children under 6 do not ride the snowmobiles, without exception.
- Each snowmobile carries two, so guests without a licence ride as passengers.
A driver at your disposal
You may add a vehicle with a driver at your party’s disposal. There are two options:
A four-seat car with a driver, 60€ per day, for a minimum of one day.
An eight-seat vehicle with a driver, 240€ per day, for a minimum of three consecutive days. It is on call day and night, with two hours a day set aside for cleaning and servicing.
Guests take it for two reasons. The roads here are icy for most of the winter, and our driver has driven them for years. And on the evenings that matter, no one in your party needs to stay sober to drive.
Please book either option at least two weeks in advance.
Arrival
Luleå Airport (LLA) is 1 hour 20 minutes from Vidsel, and Skellefteå Airport (SFT) 2 hours 10 minutes. Both are approximate winter driving times.
Your house
A house for your group, for all eleven nights, is included in the price.
The houses belong to local companies near Vidsel with whom we work. We reserve the house on your behalf and settle with the owner. Each house sleeps six to eight.
Three of our eight houses have a private sauna. We allocate them in order of booking, so book early if it matters to you.
Drinks
We recommend arranging this on your way in.
In Sweden, anything stronger than 3.5% is sold only at Systembolaget, the state shop. Vidsel has none. The Tempo shop in the village sells beer up to 3.5% and most everyday things, but nothing stronger.
There are four stores, depending on your route:
- Älvsbyn, Skolgatan 27. Mon to Fri 10:00 to 18:00, Sat 10:00 to 14:00, closed Sunday. 0929-123 73. On the road from every airport, and a 24 minute drive once you are here.
- Luleå, Storheden, Besiktningsvägen 19 A. Mon to Fri 10:00 to 20:00, Sat 10:00 to 15:00, closed Sunday. 0920-673 65. Closest if you fly into Luleå.
- Piteå, Storgatan 65. Mon 10:00 to 18:00, Tue to Fri 10:00 to 19:00, Sat 10:00 to 15:00, closed Sunday. 0911-21 10 14.
- Skellefteå, Solbacken, Varugatan 22. Mon to Fri 10:00 to 19:00, Sat 10:00 to 15:00, closed Sunday. 0910-72 61 65. Closest if you fly into Skellefteå.
There is no need to buy for all eleven days at once, since Älvsbyn is 24 minutes away and you can restock on any weekday between Christmas and New Year. However, every Systembolaget in Sweden is closed on 25 and 26 December and on 1 January. On 24 December it may also be closed or very crowded. Opening hours also change around the holidays, so check systembolaget.se before you travel and buy what you need for Christmas itself on your way in.
Weather and cancellation
The northern lights and some outdoor activities depend on conditions, and deep cold can close a day. If the weather stops an activity, we move it to another day; twelve days leave room for that.
Your price has two parts, and each part follows its own cancellation terms.
Accommodation: 1,980€ per house. Because the houses belong to local companies with whom we work, this part follows the owners’ own terms:
- 61 days or more before arrival: free of charge
- 60 to 43 days before arrival: 594€ per house
- 42 to 15 days before arrival: 1,188€ per house
- 14 to 8 days before arrival: 1,584€ per house
- 7 days or less before arrival, or no-show: 1,980€ per house
- If the house is let again for your dates, the fee falls to 150€
Everything else (tours, meals and activities) follows the FulleRulle terms:
- Cancel 14 days or more before your start date, and we refund everything you have paid for this part
- Cancel 13 to 3 days before, and we refund 50% of what you have paid for this part
- Cancel less than 72 hours before, or do not arrive, and there is no refund
- If we have to cancel, for example because of severe weather, you receive a full refund or another date
Your deposit is the accommodation part (1,980€ per house) plus 30% of the rest of the price. It secures your dates. The accommodation part goes to the house owner, since we pay for your stay in advance. You can also pay the full price when you book; otherwise, the balance is paid by card on the day of arrival.
Guests need their own travel and activity insurance covering everything booked with us.
What to bring
- High winter boots, above the ankle
- Warm socks
- Thermal underwear
That is all you need under the snowmobile suit. For the rest of your stay, pack warm clothes and dress for comfort. We provide everything else. Temperatures stay well below freezing through December and January.
Price
2290€ per adult, tax included.
1832€ per guest aged 13 to 17 (20% off).
1603€ per guest aged 6 to 12 (30% off).
1145€ per child under 6 (50% off).
Children under 6 do not ride the snowmobiles. Everything else is open to them: the tree, the reindeer, the fire, the food and the sky.
The price covers twelve days and eleven nights, including your house. Only the car with a driver is extra.
Questions guests ask
Can we book if none of us has ridden before?
Certainly. Every tour begins with safety training, and a guide rides with you throughout. Most of our guests are riding for the first time.
What if someone in the group does not have a driving licence?
They ride as passengers, because each snowmobile carries two.
Can we bring children?
Yes, of any age. Guests under 18 do not drive; from the age of 6 they ride as passengers. Children under 6 stay off the snowmobiles altogether, a safety rule without exception, but they join everything else at half price.
Is accommodation included in the price?
Yes. Your house for all eleven nights is included. Only the car with a driver is booked separately.
Do we need a car?
Only if you wish to drive yourselves. Vidsel has a Tempo shop for everyday needs, and we come to you for the tours. Guests who take our driver do so because the roads are icy, and because no one wants to be the designated driver on New Year’s Eve.
Will we see the northern lights?
No one can promise the aurora. We watch for it every night of your stay and collect you when it appears. Eleven nights offer many chances.
What happens on the days without a scheduled activity?
Nothing, unless you wish otherwise. Those days are meant for rest. If you would rather be out, tell us the evening before.
Can we come for part of the period instead?
Yes. Write to us, and we will arrange the details with you.
