5 days in Swedish Lapland
Arctic Escape is 5 days in Swedish Lapland for your group: five days and four nights in Vidsel, a house, breakfast and dinner every day, 6 hours of snowmobiling per person, snow tubing, a walk on the frozen sea, an ice road drive, a guided winter hike and the aurora hunt. One price per person, everything planned with you.
On the snow
6 hours of snowmobiling per person. Your group rides together and decides how to use the time: two rides of three hours, or more shorter ones. We ride the trails that local people use, well away from routes laid out for visitors.
1.5 hours of snow tubing per person, that is one run. On a lake nearby, we tow the tubes behind a snowmobile on a long rope across the ice.
On the ice, on foot and at night
A walk on the frozen Baltic Sea. In a proper winter, the ice holds for kilometres.
A drive on the ice road, 3 to 7 km out from the shore, straight across the frozen sea.
Both depend on the winter: we go out on the sea only when the ice holds.
A guided winter hike on local trails, at a pace that suits your group.
An aurora hunt. The northern lights keep no schedule, so we watch the sky and the forecast for you. When they appear, we let you know and go out with you.
Your house
A house for your group.
Each house sleeps six to eight. Groups of 3 to 8 guests.
The houses belong to local owners near Vidsel with whom we work. We reserve the house for you and settle with the owner.
Meals
Breakfast and dinner every day of your stay.
Allergies or particular preferences? Let us know before you arrive, and we will plan accordingly.
How we plan
Weather in Lapland is hard to predict, and forecasts are often wrong. Your hours on the snow are fixed, but not the day on which each ride takes place.
Each evening, we decide the following day together. You go out when conditions are right and stay in when they are not.
A candid word
These are real activities, and they carry some risk.
Snowmobiling is physical. Falls happen. We take every care that nobody is hurt, although the occasional bruise is possible. First-time riders should also expect sore muscles the next day.
On the snow tubes, tipping over is expected. At their fastest, the tubes may knock into one another at 15 to 20 km/h. Even so, we keep it safe throughout.
Included on every ride
- Snowmobiles with heated handlebars and footrests
- Warm winter suits
- Helmets, goggles, gloves and balaclavas
- Fuel
- A local guide on every tour
- Safety training before you ride
Guests and requirements
- Drivers must be 18 or older and hold a valid category A or B driving licence.
- A Swedish snowmobile licence is not required. Riding with our guide covers it.
- Every driver completes a short skills check during the safety training.
- Passengers ride from the age of 6. Guests under 18 ride as passengers with an adult.
- Children under 6 do not ride the snowmobiles, without exception.
- Each snowmobile carries two, so guests without a licence ride as passengers.
- Please tell us about any joint, back or bone condition before booking, as it may rule out or limit some activities.

Getting here
Luleå Airport (LLA) is 1 hour 20 minutes from Vidsel, and Skellefteå Airport (SFT) 2 hours 10 minutes. Both are approximate winter driving times.
Travel to Vidsel is not included in the price. You can rent a car at the airport, or add a car with a driver to your booking:

Drinks
We do not serve alcohol, but you are welcome to bring your own.

Booking and payment

The balance is paid by card on the day of arrival.
Guests need their own travel and activity insurance covering everything booked with us.

- Cancel 13 to 3 days before, and we refund 50% of what you have paid for this part

Questions guests ask
Can we book if none of us has ridden before?
Certainly. Every tour begins with safety training, and a guide rides with you throughout.
May our teenagers drive?
No. Nobody under 18 drives with us. They ride as passengers and join every tour.
Do we all have to ride at the same time?
Yes. The 6 hours per person are used by your group together, on rides we plan with you each evening.
What happens if the weather turns?
We move the activity to another day. That is why we plan each evening rather than months ahead.
Will we see the northern lights?
No one can promise the aurora. We watch for it every night, and we let you know when it appears.
What if someone cannot take part in an activity?
Please tell us before booking, and we will see what can be adjusted.
What should we wear?
We provide suits, helmets, goggles, gloves and balaclavas. For the rest, see what to wear on a snowmobile tour at -25 °C.
