How to Get to Vidsel: Luleå or Skellefteå Airport?

Two airports serve Swedish Lapland close to Vidsel. Luleå Airport (LLA) is about 1 hour 20 minutes away by car. Skellefteå Airport (SFT) is about 2 hours 10 minutes away.

Which Airport Should You Pick?

Luleå is closer, so it saves you time on the road, and it usually has more flight options. Skellefteå can work out cheaper on some routes, so it is worth checking flight prices for your dates before you decide.

A Realistic Day Plan

Land in the morning, and you can be in Vidsel by early afternoon with time to settle in before a tour. This works from either airport if your flight lands early enough. Build in some slack. Winter roads are usually well maintained, but travel times can run longer in heavy snow or wind, so treat the times above as estimates, not guarantees.

Renting a Car or Getting a Transfer

We do not run airport transfers ourselves. Renting a car is the most reliable way to get from either airport to Vidsel, and it also gives your group freedom to explore the area between tours. Book your rental in advance, especially in high season.
